The Athenaeum Club is a day spa and members' club on Cherry Orchard Way, on the northern edge of Southend. Spa day packages include use of a 25m swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms, hydrotherapy beds, gym and indoor tennis and squash courts. A four-hour Spa Retreat costs £65 Monday to Thursday and £70 Friday to Sunday, booked by phone. Memberships start from £54 a month.
