城南天然温泉かたるの森

Katarunomori is a hot-spring bath and campsite in Jonan, in the south of Kumamoto city, reopened as a new complex after the old Jonan Tennen Onsen ryokan was damaged in the 2016 earthquake and closed. Its alkaline simple spring fills an indoor bath, an outdoor bath and private family baths, and the main bath has a wood-lined sauna with a self-löyly stove. Adult entry is ¥800. Open 9 AM to 10 PM, last entry 9 PM, closed Wednesdays unless a public holiday.
