Shiro no Yu is a 30-year-old bathhouse in Kami-Kumamoto reborn as a men-only sauna themed on Kumamoto history. Its two Finnish saunas have Harvia heaters with auto and self-löyly: Reigando, a dark tiled room modelled on the cave where Miyamoto Musashi wrote The Book of Five Rings, and the wood-lined Honmaru. Two outdoor cold baths use local well water, and staff run scheduled Aufguss. Entry is ¥1,200 with no time limit, towels included; ladies' days are held now and then. Closed Mondays.

The big cold bath runs on groundwater from 200 m down. Bath-only entry is ¥900 on weekdays and ¥1,000 at weekends; baths close 8 to 10 AM for cleaning.
