Fort Resort Beemster
Fort Resort Beemster is built into a fort of the UNESCO-listed Stelling van Amsterdam, north of the city, with nine saunas including a wood-fired Maa sauna, a Kelo sauna, a Himalayan salt sauna, a bird's nest sauna, a bat sauna, a panorama sauna, a botanical sauna, a caldarium and an infrared cabin. Sauna masters run daily opgietingen, singing-bowl sessions and scrubs. Around them are salt and herb baths, warm and cold walk-through baths, a snow shower and a natural swimming pond. Open daily 9.45 to 23.00, entry from 45 euro.

Zuiver is the largest sauna complex in Amsterdam, set at the edge of the Amsterdamse Bos with eight saunas: an experience sauna, a fireplace sauna, a Japanese sauna, a colour therapy sauna, a relax sauna, a caldarium, a steam temple at 98 percent humidity and an infrared cabin. Sauna masters give at least eight free aufguss sessions a day. There is a 14 degree plunge pool and a heated outdoor pool, and day entry is 45 euro. Swimwear is worn only on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Sauna Den Ilp lies in a village in the polder a short drive north of Amsterdam and runs nine heat rooms: a Finnish sauna, an Aufguss Kelo sauna, a panorama sauna, a lemon sauna, a salt sauna, a herb temple, a caldarium, an infrared cabin and a steam cabin. It opens every day from ten in the morning until ten at night, and a day card costs 46 euro on weekdays and 48 euro at weekends. Swimwear is not permitted for hygiene reasons.

Soak Urban Wellness is built from nine converted shipping containers in Amsterdam Zuidoost, laid out as private wellness studios rather than a shared sauna floor. Each studio holds a dry Finnish wood sauna at 90 degrees and a eucalyptus steam cabin at 45 degrees, and separate cabins hold infrared saunas booked for 45 minutes from 42,50 euro. Two hours in a private studio starts at 149 euro, and the whole centre can be hired.

SpaWeesp is a wellness resort in the fields outside Weesp, a quarter of an hour east of Amsterdam, with a long list of cabins: a Finnish sauna, a Kelo opgietsauna, rose, lavender and bamboo saunas, a silence sauna, a lounge sauna, an infrared cabin and both a Turkish and a crystal steam bath, running from 45 to 90 degrees. It opens daily from ten until half past ten at night, and day entry starts at 46 euro. Monday and the last Sunday of the month are swimwear days.

Thermen La Mer is a day spa on the water at Almere Haven, east of Amsterdam, with a Finnish Kelo sauna at about 95 degrees, a meditation Kelo sauna, a herb sauna, a Himalayan salt sauna, a steam bath and an infrared cabin. Opgietingen and rituals run daily between 11.30 and 21.30, and there are indoor and outdoor pools and hydro-massage baths. Day entry is 42 euro from Monday to Thursday and 45 euro at the weekend. Swimwear is not allowed and there are no swimwear days.
