Kotiharjun sauna in Kallio, open since 1928, calls itself the only traditional wood-heated neighbourhood sauna left in Helsinki. Separate men's and women's public saunas sit on two floors, heated by huge single-fire stoves, and an electric private sauna with two lounges takes groups of about 17. No booking is needed and bathers may stay as long as they like; men bathe nude. A washer gives full-body scrubs on Thursdays and Saturdays. Open Tuesday to Sunday 2 pm to 8 pm, entry EUR 16.
