Description
Uunisaari's beach saunas stand on a small island just off Helsinki, reached in summer by a ferry from Kompassitori. Two traditional Finnish saunas share the shore: Pikku-Uuni, a women's sauna for up to 10, and Iso-Uuni, a unisex sauna for 15 where swimsuits are asked for. Bathers dip in the sea from a year-round pier, with an ice hole in winter. Public sessions run Wednesday to Friday 3 pm to 9 pm, Saturday 11 am to 9 pm and Sunday noon to 8 pm, and both saunas can also be hired.
