Description

Sækot is a small sauna fitted out in a former lumpfish fishermen's shed (grásleppuskúr) at Grímstaðavör on the Ægisíða shore in west Reykjavík. It runs gusa sessions, the Icelandic take on Aufguss: a gusumeistari leads three quarter-hour rounds mixing heat, cold, scent, music and towel-fanning, with sea dips from the slipway in between. The whole sauna can be booked privately for up to 18 people for 70,000 ISK.
