The 612 Sauna Cooperative, formed in 2016, is the first community-owned and operated mobile sauna in the United States. Its 24-foot cedar-lined sauna, heated by a Minnesota-made Kuuma wood stove and seating 8 to 10, moves between residencies such as the Trailhead at Theodore Wirth Park, Cedar Lake and Lake Nokomis. Hosted 90-minute community sessions of self-guided hot and cool rounds cost $38 a seat; Aufguss-guided and silent sessions run too, and private bookings for up to 12 start at $330.

Awaken For Wellness

Awaken For Wellness

Awaken For Wellness is a holistic wellness center on St. Clair Avenue in Saint Paul offering float therapy, full-spectrum infrared saunas, ONYX red light, cold plunge and massage. Each infrared session takes place in a private room, generally for 30 to 45 minutes, at $40 with a $20 cold plunge add-on; an additional guest may join for $10. Staffed hours are Tuesday to Friday 9 AM to 9 PM and weekends 9 AM to 7 PM, with all-access infrared sauna available from 5 AM to 11 PM daily.

Little Ember Co

Little Ember Co runs two wood-fired mobile saunas on the shore of Cedar Lake at Cedar Lake Point Beach in Minneapolis. From November to March, Thursday to Sunday, guests book a community seat for a 75-minute session of sauna rounds broken up by winter air, snow angels, icy water over the head or a dip in the lake. A single seat costs $35 for guests 18 and over, and both saunas can be rented privately for $299 for up to 10 people; workshops, birthdays and seasonal events are also hosted.

Sauna Strong is a sauna and recovery studio in the Linden Hills area of southwest Minneapolis. It runs a community traditional dry sauna plus community and private infrared saunas in 45-minute sessions, an infrared wellness pod, red light therapy, cold therapy and 2,500 square feet of open gym. Drop-ins start at $20 for the community dry sauna and $24 for community infrared, booked through the Mindbody app. Open Monday to Friday 5:30 AM to 8 PM, Saturday 8 AM to 6 PM and Sunday 10 AM to 5 PM.

Saunable operates a hand-crafted wood-fired mobile sauna at Schulze Lake Beach in Lebanon Hills Regional Park in Eagan, south of the Twin Cities. Hosted 75-minute sessions allow a few heat-cool cycles, with the sauna kept around 180 to 190°F and the lake serving as the cold plunge; changing facilities, hydration stations and a bonfire area are on site. Social sessions are limited to eight people aged 14 and over, and private group bookings take up to ten.

Watershed is a communal bathhouse in the historic Switch House beside the Mississippi River in Northeast Minneapolis. Guests follow a seven-step ritual of shower, soak, steam, sauna, cold plunge, reset and repeat across a hot pool, steam room, dry sauna and cold plunge pool, with spa treatments, salt scrubs and private gatherings for up to 30 guests also on offer.
