South-Western Bathhouse
The South-Western Bathhouse, known to Torontonians simply as the banya, is a family-run Eastern European bathhouse behind a Mississauga plaza. It has a cedar Parilka with four levels of heat over a wood-fired brick stove, a dry Finnish sauna, a Turkish hammam tiled with artifacts from Istanbul, a cold plunge and a tea room serving Eastern European food. Admission is $65 and days alternate between ladies only, men only and co-ed. It closes for the season and reopens on 19 September.

It combines a traditional Russian banya heated by a wood-burning furnace with a steam sauna, a low-temperature infrared cabin and a cold tub, plus a rest area with complimentary tea.
